StomaphyX™: A Revolutionary New Incisionless Revision Procedure For Bariatric Surgery Patients

StomaphyxStomaphyx The StomaphyX™Procedure is coming! This is an exciting and revolutionary procedure that uses an endoscope to go down through the esophagus into the stomach, with the ability to make changes on the inside of the stomach without having to perform actual surgery!
StomaphyX™ can used in post-bariatric surgery patients:
  • To reduce the size of pouches that have stretched or are too large
  • To restore some of the full feeling you used to feel after eating
  • To help make reflux better after the RNY Gastric Bypass, the Duodenal Switch, the Lap-Band® or the Sleeve Gastrectomy
  • To help slow the flow of food through the stomach pouch
  • To help restore or improve a patient's weight loss after certain bariatric operations

How The StomaphyX™ Device Works

The ability of StomaphyX™ to improve so many situations after bariatric surgery has made it one of the most important advances in the field of bariatric surgery in several years.

The images to the right show the StomaphyX™ device at work.

The device uses suction to pull some of the stomach wall into the chamber of the device, and then a fastener of strong plastic is sent through the tissue of stomach, securing this "pinch" of stomach together. This is done many times, to reduce the volume in the stomach pouch.

Stomaphyx FinalStomaphyx This has the effect of reducing the size and stretchability of the stomach wall. You will usually feel full on less food, and this can help you resume losing weight or help you lose mare than you would have.

The device can also be used to narrow the opening of the stoma, or the emptying site of the stomach pouch. StomaphyX™can also reduce the size of the opening from the esophagus into the stomach, thereby blocking reflux and reducing symptoms of heartburn.
